Doctoral Education Pathway for American Indian/Alaska Native Nurses
The University of Minnesota School of Nursing’s Doctoral Education Pathway for American Indian/Alaska Native Nurses supports AI/AN nurses in completing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD degree at the University of Minnesota.
Facilities
The School of Nursing community has access to two facilities designed to foster research, hands-on simulations, and teamwork among health professionals. The School of Nursing's 11,000 square foot Bentson Healthy Communities Innovation Center offers simulation environments across the continuum of care. Interprofessional teamwork among health professionals is supported by the state-of-the-art Health Sciences Education Center.

Research Opportunities
Ranked 14th in schools of nursing receiving National Institutes of Health research funding, at $5.3 MILLION in February 2023, University of Minnesota School of Nursing faculty lead innovative research and evidence-based practice projects with students, interdisciplinary colleagues, community partners and clinical affairs.
We address health issues such as Alzheimer’s, childhood obesity, diabetes, peripheral artery disease, opioid addiction and refugee trauma in local, state and global contexts.

Jennifer Eccles PhD, RN, FAADN, received the Exceptional Leader Contribution State Representative Subscriber Award from the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers.
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) announced Dean Connie White Delaney, PhD, RN, FAAN, FACMI, FNAP, will co-chair its Emerging Technologies in Nursing Task Force. White Delaney is co-chairing the task force with Jerry Mansfield, PhD, vice president and system chief nursing executive at The University of Texas Medical Branch.
Nurse leaders, data scientists and informaticists from across the country gathered in Minneapolis for the 2026 Nursing Knowledge: Big Data Science Conference in June. Attendees explored how nurses can lead the implementation, governance and impact of artificial intelligence (AI).
